About Us
NorthStar Engineering is a diverse 26 member engineering, surveying, planning and environmental firm located in Chico, California. Our firm has been providing continuous service to local, state, federal and private clients since 1983. Our project locations cover all of California and southern Oregon. We have eight registered civil engineers licensed in California and Oregon, professional land surveyors licensed in California, biologists, environmental planners, a licensed arborist, and GIS analysts. Five members of our staff are also LEED Accredited Professionals.
Our principals have an average of 20 years of design and project management experience on projects throughout Northern California and Oregon. Senior engineers and environmental staff, including senior regulatory biologists have an average of 15 years experience. Several of our engineers have previous experience as staff engineers for municipalities. We use technology advances, such as computer-aided drafting, GIS, Trimble global position survey equipment, and multi-parameter sampling meters to enhance our services.
A principal or dedicated project manager oversees all of the projects undertaken by NorthStar Engineering. The principals and project managers are responsible for quality assurance and quality control on every project. They, as well as all the staff, are focused on creating practical and innovative solutions with the highest commitment to client satisfaction. Design of public works infrastructure has taken on a new dimension with increased public interest and participation. NorthStar Engineering sees this new dimension as an added strength to the finished design product. We have significant experience presenting sensitive projects to the public. We understand that each project has multiple stakeholders interested in the project outcome. We feel we can be sensitive to the needs of the stakeholders while focusing on the needs of our client.
Environmental Consulting
NorthStar Environmental staff has been providing environmental consulting in Northern California since 1999 and is dedicated to providing efficient, cost-effective, professional consulting and habitat management services to a wide range of clients. Comprised of biologists, botanists, arborists, regulatory specialists, environmental planners, CEQA/NEPA specialists, and GIS technicians; NorthStar applies forward thinking solutions to deal with wetlands, endangered species, sensitive habitats, environmental compliance and overall project planning. Civil DesignCivil Design services revolve around providing much needed basic infrastructure for new construction or re-development. NorthStar Engineering has been providing these engineering services to governmental agencies, land developers, business owners, and private individuals since the inception of the firm. Civil Design covers such a broad range of differing projects that engineers practicing in this field at NorthStar Engineering, through varied experience, are often able to assess the bigger picture and ultimately provide better service than narrowly focused engineering firms. Water ResourcesWith the dramatic changes in technology and regulations of septic systems seen over the last 10 years, these septic systems are being more accurately described as Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS). The Water Resources Department has a dedicated team of professionals specializing in the design of OWTS for residential, commercial and community applications. NorthStar offers a full range of services to address stormwater issues from original design, permitting, SWPPP implementation, to compliance monitoring. Land SurveyingSurveying is an essential part of nearly all NorthStar Engineering projects. NorthStar Engineering’s land surveying team is lead by four licensed professional land surveyors, two of which are also principles in the firm. These professionals have experience in all phases of land surveying and between them their combined land surveying experience exceeds one-hundred years. Building DesignOur building design and engineering team within NorthStar Engineering can provide you with complete building plans and structural engineering for your commercial building or dream home. We can assist you with the architectural design elements and structural components of your building. GISNorthStar Engineering offers in-house Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) services. The integration of a graphic based medium with spatial data provides our clients with sophisticated informational products from which decisions can be made and ideas presented.
